谷根千、懐かしい東京を見たいのなら。
Yanesen refers to the Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi areas. Although it is located close to the center of Tokyo, it is still a very folksy area that retains the atmosphere of a Tokyo downtown.
谷根千とは、谷中・根津・千駄木エリアを指します。東京の中心地に近くなのですが、今なお東京の下町としての風情を残す庶民的な地域です。
Today’s Tokyo is filled with skyscrapers and modern architecture. Old Tokyo can also be experienced by looking at temples, shrines, and historical sites. Yanesen is in between these two places. Here you can see what Japan was like before it developed. Here is Tokyo before its post-war development.
今の東京は高層ビルや近代的な建築にあふれています。昔の東京もお寺や神社、史跡を見れば体験できます。谷根千は、これらの中間です。日本が発展する前の姿を、ここで見ることができます。戦争後の発展する前の東京がここにはあります。
Nezu and Sendagi are by subway. Yanaka can be reached from Nippori Station on the JR Yamanote Line. If you just walk, these three places are about 30 minutes away.
根津と千駄木には地下鉄で。谷中にはＪＲの山手線の日暮里駅から行くことができます。歩くだけなら、この３箇所は３０分ほどの距離です。
The reason why many old streets remain in this area is that they were not burned by air raids during the war. And since there have been many temples in the area for a long time, it was difficult for them to be developed.
この辺りに古い町並みが多く残っているのは、戦争の空襲で焼けなかったことが原因です。そして昔からお寺が多かったので、開発されにくかったようです。
