Apart from this, the twelve-year cycle is called the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac.

干支とは古代中国の暦から伝わった方位を表す仕組み。東西南北を含む１２個の方位を動物に当てはめたもの。これとは別に１２年を１サイクルとしたものを十二支と言う。ちなみに２０２３年はうさぎ年。
